Family Support Program is funded by the State of Tennessee and managed by the TEAM Centers. The program funds services and needs that are not covered by traditional resources for individuals and/or families caring for a member who has a severe disability in their home.

Family Support Services are designed to be flexible and responsive to individual or family needs. Services might include but are not limited to: respite care, before/after care, day care, home/vehicle modifications, specialized equipment/repair/maintenance, nutrition/clothing/supplies, personal assistance, transportation, homemaker services, housing costs, health related costs, nursing, counseling, summer camp, and evaluation.

The current limit on benefits is $3,500 per individual with a severe disability in a family. However, depending on Family Support resources and Local Council priorities, you may get less than $3,500. To find out if you are eligible to receive support from this program, call (423) 622-0500, extension 1133.

Chattanooga Autism Center
In 2009, TEAM’s Medical Director, I. Leslie Rubin M.D., and Clinical Director, Karen Weigle, Ph.D., started the Chattanooga Autism Center (CAC). The CAC is a parent-driven center providing complete lifespan support and services for people with autism spectrum disorders and for their families. The center also serves as an advocacy resource and builds awareness about autism in our region. For more information on the CAC, visit their website at www.chattanoogaautismcenter.org

Behavior Support Services
The State of Tennessee contracts The TEAM Centers to provide a Regional Chief Behavior Analyst and four behavior analysts as contract staff who provide applied behavior analyses services across East and Middle Tennessee to families on the Medicaid Waiver. With offices in Knoxville and Nashville, TEAM’s Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) oversee, consult with, and support other D.I.D.D. approved behavior analysts who provide community support. TEAM’s BCBAs also help craft effective “behavior support plans” for individuals on the Medicaid Waiver by meeting with the individuals and their “Circles of Support." Circles of support include parents, care-givers, educators, group home staff, and other stake holders who are involved in the support and well-being of the individual being served. The overall goal is to generate behavior support plans with measurable outcomes that increase the client’s quality of life while simultaneously advocating for their rights as individuals.
